Welcome from the Ladies’ Captain
Whether you are joining alone or with another, there is lots to get involved with at Brampton Park and you will be warmly welcomed. If you are considering getting into golf and have no idea how to start, then we can help you. Please contact our Office and they will put you in touch with myself or our member responsible for new people, who can show you around the club and explain where to find further information.
Ladies join our section for a variety of reasons, some for fun, some to learn a new sport, some wish to play in regular competitions, or some like a mix of all.
We can assist you with getting your first handicap so you can play in competitions and at other courses. We can also help with a basic knowledge of golf, to get you started with rules, etiquette, and requirements.
The Pro shop offer lessons and coaching for all abilities, and can advise you with golf clubs so there is no need to invest in these at the outset. They also organise small group lessons which are a popular way for new golfers to get into the game. We also have one specific for ladies, which includes a meet up with a coffee and a slice of cake! A more relaxed social option. Our new member contact regularly attends these sessions so help to can point you in the right direction.
You may already play and like a regular commitment, Tuesday mornings are our designated tee slots usually between 9-11am. We play medals, and stablefords, both on a Tuesday and a weekend day (available for 7 day members only). Non-competitive Tuesdays are often fun competitions, and these continue throughout the winter season. On the weekend you can join in with the captains competitions which are run by our Men’s section. Funds from entry for this go towards a project chosen by the captains, for the club and its members.
We are affiliated to Cambs and Hunts Women’s Golf Association, and compete in county competitions. These include the Jean Wilkinson, Grace Norman, and Mary Cole, these competitions are hugely supported, and have team selectors from the section, who may get in touch to include you should be on form! You may have an interest in these competitions anyway, if you join us my welcome letter will provide more information on this and points of contact.
We play friendly matches against other clubs in the area and have our own scratch team who we are proud to say are in Division Two of the Inter-club County Scratch league, and this year we will also have a B Scratch Team.
National competitions include the Coronation Foursomes, Australian Spoons, Annodata, British National Mixed Golf, Ping BB and Daily Mail Foursomes.
The Honours Boards may draw your attention, there are Ladies and Mixed Honour Boards for winners of those competitions around the clubhouse.
We also have several inter-club competitions with the Men’s section, a Novelty match, 4BBB Matchplay and then an annual competition with the Seniors.
Other events throughout the year include our Ladies away event, this is usually a Sunday/Monday overnight stay with 2 rounds of golf and a dinner in the evening. We also have an exchange day with Burghley Park Golf Club this year.
Please get in touch if you wish to know more.
I look forward to welcoming you to Brampton Park Golf Club.
