Welcome from the Ladies’ Captain
The ladies’ section is a wonderful mix of people all coming together to share our love of golf. Whether you are considering joining with your partner or by yourself you will be warmly welcomed. A lot of new people have found how friendly and easy it is to slot in. We are an active part of Brampton Park Golf Club and commit to our role as ambassadors for our Club aiming to create a positive, encouraging and respectful environment.
If you are considering getting into golf but have no idea how to start, then we can help you. Contact our Office and they will put you in touch with our Ladies Captain and Special ambassador, they will offer to meet for a Tea/Coffee, show you around the facilities and discuss the first steps. Most importantly it is a time to understand what you are looking to get from joining, whether it is the opportunity to meet new people, learn something new or play competitive/non-competitive sport. Playing with a member is a great advantage not only will you benefit from a reduced green fee but they will talk you around the course. We want to help you to get your first handicap which will enable you to play any golf course around the world. We can help with basic knowledge of golf, to get you started and like most new things in life there is always some form of rules, etiquette, and requirements. With golf there is a lot to learn, small chunks at a time and with a little support you will end up knowing more than you did yesterday.
The Pro shop offer lessons and coaching for all abilities which can include clubs so there is no need to invest in these at the outset. Take your time to learn how to swing smoothly. They also organise small group lessons which are a popular way for new golfers to get into the game and make new aquaintances.
For those of you that are well-seasoned golfers we welcome you to our Club. Tuesday mornings are our designated tee slots usually between 9-11am. We play 8 EGU medals and 8 individual Stablefords both on a Tuesday and a weekend day (available for 7 day members only). Non-competitive Tuesdays are often fun competitions, and these continue throughout the winter season. In the weekend we join in with the captains’ competitions which are run by our Men’s section.
We are affiliated to Cambs and Hunts Women’s Golf Association and keenly compete in county competitions such as the Jean Wilkinson and Grace Norman, Mary Cole. These competitions are hugely supported within the whole section and played with enormous team spirit.
We play friendly matches against other clubs in the area and have our own scratch team who we are proud to say are in Div2 of the Inter – Club County Scratch league.
National competitions including the Coronation Foursomes, Australian Spoons, Annodata, British National Mixed Golf, Ping BB and Daily Mail Foursomes are also played.
If you set your goals high then the Honours Boards might draw your attention. There are Ladies and Mixed Honour Boards though you might require to be a 7 day member to play in the majority of these.
Throughout the calendar year we have several interclub competitions with the Men’s section, a Novelty match, 4BBB Matchplay and then our annual competition with the Seniors. Other events throughout the year are our Ladies away event, this is usually a Sunday/Monday overnight stay with 2 rounds of golf, each year we try to do a different location within a 2 hour drive. We also have an exchange day with Toft Golf Club in Lincolnshire which is a great day out and we value the relationship we have built over the years.
The club also have a lot of social events throughout the year, and these are well attended and enjoyed by many.
We look forward to welcoming you to Brampton Park Golf Club!
